Baseboard and trim work is included or available as part of every flooring installation Elite Floor Crafters performs. When new flooring goes in, the existing baseboard comes off, the floor is installed, and the baseboard goes back on, adjusted to the new floor height and re-caulked for a clean finish. Shoe molding is added where the application requires it. Transition strips and thresholds are set at every doorway and room change. The flooring project is not considered complete until the trim is done.
Baseboard and trim installation is also available as a standalone service for rooms where the floor is already in place but the trim work needs attention. Common scenarios include: new flooring was installed without proper baseboard work, existing trim was damaged or removed and not replaced, the home was updated to a floating floor and the shoe molding was never added, or a room refresh calls for a trim profile upgrade without touching the floor. Every room is measured and the layout is planned before any cuts are made. Inside corners, outside corners, door casings, and long runs are all accounted for in the cut list. Baseboard stock is selected for the room and acclimated to the interior conditions before installation begins, particularly important in Florida where interior humidity affects wood and composite materials.
Outside corners are mitered precisely. Long runs are spliced at wall studs so the joint is supported and less visible. Every cut is made on a miter saw calibrated for the specific angles of the room. Coped inside corners are available as an optional add-on for clients who want that finish; ask about it during the consultation and the team will quote it for your specific project.
Baseboard is nailed to wall studs and the bottom plate, not just drywall, so it holds through Florida's humidity expansion and contraction without pulling away from the wall over time. Shoe molding is nailed to the baseboard, never to the floor, preserving the expansion gap for floating floor systems. Nail heads are set and filled before painting.
The top edge of the baseboard is caulked to the wall before painting so there is no shadow gap and the baseboard reads as part of the wall surface. The floor edge of shoe molding is not caulked, preserving floor movement. Nail holes are filled with paintable filler. All surfaces are left paint-ready. Painting itself is outside the scope of Elite Floor Crafters' flooring work but can be coordinated with your painter.

Every floating floor system moves with those humidity changes, expanding slightly when moisture is high and contracting when it drops. The expansion gap at every wall is not optional.
