Category: Floors in Florida’s Climate

Florida is hard on floors. Concrete slabs push moisture up from the ground, humidity swings with every AC cycle, and sun through sliding glass doors fades and heats the surface. Floors that perform well in other states can cup, gap, or lift here within a year or two of installation.
These articles explain how Central Florida’s climate affects each flooring type and what we do about it on real jobs in Ocala, Gainesville, The Villages and Citrus County: testing slab moisture before we quote, choosing the right moisture barrier and adhesive, picking rigid-core LVP or engineered hardwood where solid wood would struggle, and leaving the right expansion gaps for Florida conditions.
If you are comparing materials for a slab home, start with our guides below, then look at LVP flooring installation, engineered hardwood and tile flooring. When you are ready, book a free in-home estimate and we will test your slab and bring samples to see in your own light.
